About Me Post

Hello, welcome to my journal!
I'm a full-time bookseller at A Room of One's Own and lifetime nerd. I'm involved with WisCon (this year I'm one of the co-chairs), and I'm a Tiptree Award juror for 2013. I also do summer work trade on a CSA farm and do a lot of other random projects, which I'll probably write about as they happen. You can find me tweeting occasionally at
gretchening and on Facebook.
I write about a variety of things! I'm particularly interested in intersectional critiques of pop culture, fannish expression, comics, LGBTQ young adult books, feminist science fiction & fantasy, independent bookstores, movies and tv, music, DIY art, cooking and farming.
The views expressed in this journal are mine alone and do not represent my employers or the organizations for which I volunteer my time.
I am active in online transformative works fandom--if you know me by my fannish handle I'll appreciate it if you can keep that separate from my given name in public spaces. Some fannish content will undoubtedly make its way into this journal from time to time.
You are always welcome to comment upon, argue, link, share any public content on this journal. I ask that commenters refrain from using transphobic, homophobic, racist, ableist, sexist, and ageist language in my journal, and will ask you to stop and may ban you at my discretion. Also be aware that my blog is queer-positive, asexual-positive, sex-positive, and supportive of non-normative relationships, gender expressions, and sexualities. If any of that offends you, please do us all a favor and don't comment here.
That said, welcome! I'm always happy to meet new people, so please don't be shy to offer an opinion or comment here.
